Charleston

Kitchen Renovation, Historic Townhouse, Charleston, SC

Overview

A kitchen redesign in a historic Charleston townhouse, shaped to honor the home’s character while introducing warmth, richness, and a sense of quiet complexity. The goal was to create a historically rooted kitchen — visually layered but not overly styled.

Design Highlights

  • Golden yellow custom kitchen cabinetry with hand-painted accents within chocolate-brown cabinet interiors added depth, personality, and historical nuance.
  • Exposed brick and a custom Delft tile backsplash provided texture and a tangible connection to the building’s past.
  • The palette blended warm, earthy tones with restrained pattern, bridging English kitchen design and Southern vernacular.
  • Custom finishes were selected for their tactility and permanence, bringing soul without pastiche.

Outcome

A space exuding confidence — layered, characterful, and true to its context.
