Central Park West (18P)

Apartment Renovation, Upper West Side, NYC

Overview

A complete renovation of a condominium on Central Park West, reimagined with the practicality and warmth associated with Scandinavian design. The apartment was fully reconfigured to create a lighter, more open plan, integrating the kitchen into the former dining area, rebuilding both bathrooms, and introducing new finishes, lighting, and electrical systems. Exposed concrete columns reveal the building’s structure, adding tactility and quiet contrast to the restrained interior.

Design Highlights

  • Comprehensive redesign of layout, kitchen, bathrooms, lighting, and electrical plan.
  • A custom kitchen extended into the dining area, with exceptionally deep lift-up cabinets providing generous concealed storage and a clean horizontal rhythm.

  • Custom shelving niches and recessed art walls introduce definition and depth within the open plan.
  • Bathrooms rebuilt with tailored vanities and a mix of Thassos and Ming Green marble for subtle tonal contrast and structure.
  • Exposed concrete columns contribute material honesty and visual weight within the refined palette.
  • Cerused white oak flooring unifies the apartment, balancing warmth and precision.

Outcome

The renovation brought coherence and light to a once-fragmented plan. Natural materials and revealed structure define the design, from the exposed concrete columns to the quietly detailed cabinetry. The result is a calm, finely balanced apartment that feels both thoughtful and enduring.
